After three packed days, the 2025 Cama’i Dance Festival is a wrap. On Sunday, March 30, the final beats of the festival rang out through the Bethel Regional High School gymnasium from the cauyat frame drums of the final performers — the Bethel-based dance group Qasqirmiut.

The 2025 Cama’i dance festival began this Friday, March 28, in Bethel Regional High School's gym-turned-performance venue. Over the course of the evening, hundreds of dancers and spectators filled the room in a booming first night of attendance.

Mushers began crossing the finish line of the 2025 Bogus Creek 150 sled dog race in quick succession early Sunday morning, just 16 hours after their departure upriver in a mass start on Saturday.

Sixteen mushers are on the trail for the 150-mile run from Bethel to Bogus Creek and back. It’s a deep field, with six former champions in the mix, as well as a handful of race rookies.

Bethel’s Pete Kaiser was the first musher to return, crossing the finish line at 1:57 a.m. and officially tying Jeff King for the all-time record of most first-place finishes in the race.

16 mushers and their teams took off in a mass start and raced up the frozen Kuskokwim River and back in the 2025 Akiak Dash. Kwethluk's Raymond Alexie won the race, claiming his second Dash victory after having finished first in 2023.

Halloween 2024 in Bethel was filled with tricks and treats! Community members had a wide variety of events to attend, with the library's annual Trunk-or-Treat and games provided by the AIRRAQ network at the Yupiit Piciryarait cultural Center and KYUK's haunted house next door.

On Oct. 14, Bethel held its third annual Indigenous Peoples’ Day community celebration at the Yupiit Piciryarait Cultural Center. From yuraq to akutaq-making, the cultural center was filled with activities celebrating the cultural heritage of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.
