Bethel Warriors

The Bethel Warriors boys and girls basketball squads have reached the end of the line for the 2025 season following a valiant effort over the weekend at the 3A Western Conference Championships in Nome.

With seconds to go, Warriors senior George Lee came up with an offensive rebound putback that brought the Warriors to victory.

The Bethel boys varsity basketball squad emerged champions in the Donlin Gold tournament at the Warrior Dome over the weekend, while the Warriors girls also fought hard to take second place.

The Bethel boys trounced the Delta Huskies to take first place in the tournament, while the Warrior girls won handily over the Craig Lady Panthers to also emerge as champions.

While the Warrior girls made quick work of Service High School's JV Lady Cougars, the Warrior boys came back from a loss on Jan. 3 to prevail over the JV Cougar boys on Jan. 4 at the Warrior Dome.

The Warrior boys and girls took second overall at the 56th Annual Joy Floyd Basketball Tournament hosted by Kodiak High School.

The Warriors saw some of their youngest wrestlers pull off top three finishes, while the Napaskiak Lady Hawks offered up the top-ranking Y-K Delta village finishers.

Freshman phenom Claire Dyment came away with a coveted Lancer Smith jacket for her first place finish in the girls 100-pound weight class.

A private school from Fairbanks called the Student Wrestling Development Program took first place overall among high school teams, while Bethel Regional High School and Nikiski High School nabbed the second and third place spots.

The Warrior boys beat out 50 teams to take first in the tournament.
