Boating fatality in Bethel

There is a search going on along the Kuskokwim River after a boat capsized. Alaska State Troopers received a report at around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10 that a boat with three people in it had capsized on the river near Bethel.

According to a trooper dispatch, 26-year-old Brenton Napoka from Tuluksak was found dead, and one person was rescued from the river. Troopers said that the missing boater is 31-year-old Akiachak resident Alexander Henry. Troopers said that they have notified the next of kin.

There are several agencies helping with the search. Alaska State Troopers, the Alaska National Guard, and local search groups from Bethel, Akiachak, Kwethluk, and Napaskiak are assisting, according to the report. Troopers say that the search is continuing.
