District 38 candidate Victoria Sosa says she’s informally stepping out of the race to represent the Lower Kuskokwim in the Alaska State House and backing fellow Democrat Nellie Unangiq Jimmie.

Bethel’s local election results are set after the canvass board met on Oct. 3. Newcomer WG Anaruk will hold a one-year seat on Bethel City Council, beating Danny Suiter by 15 votes. The race for the one-year seat on the council was too close to call after the polls closed on Oct. 1.

Preliminary results are in from Bethel's municipal election and rural school board elections in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. One of the seats on Bethel City Council is still too close to call.

Oct. 1 is municipal election day for Bethel and many other Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta communities, where voters will cast ballots for candidates in local council elections. It’s also election day for school board seats in the rural Regional Educational Attendance Areas around the state.
