Yukon-Kuskokwim Fitness Center

Bethel’s community pool at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Fitness Center is struggling to find lifeguards. It’s part of a nationwide trend, and puts important and hard-won community programs at risk.

Bethel’s Yukon-Kuskokwim Fitness Center hosted its annual community swim meet at the end of September for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

Since the Yukon-Kuskokwim Fitness Center was built, Bethel has planned to expand the facility, and now it has funding. The new community gym will also have community rooms and a free computer lab.
