Man Missing For Nearly A Year Recovered From Kuskokwim River

Stacey Hoagland, age 28, of Akiak was last seen in September. Last Friday, his body was found in the Kuskokwim River near Napakiak.

After Hoagland disappeared, Bethel Search and Rescue launched an extensive search for him. The day he went missing, the body of Holly Mayeda, age 25, was also found near Napakiak. The deaths, suspected to be connected, are attributed to a boating accident.

Hoagland's is the third body to be recovered from the Kuskokwim River this summer.

The first was Daniel Smith, age 61, of Hooper Bay, who went missing in October. The other body has not been identified, but is thought to be Paul Kaganak, age 43, of Napaskiak who drowned in May.
