A month after a man was found dead in Tuluksak, a suspect has been charged with murder for his death.

Alaska State Troopers have charged Carlie Alexie, age 50, with murder in the first degree for the death of Charles Peter, age 73.

In a dispatch emailed to KYUK, troopers said Alexie was already in custody at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel for an unrelated domestic violence incident when charged.

Peter was found dead outside his home in Tuluksak on February 22, 2022. Troopers found a .22 caliber bullet under several layers of his clothing when examining his body.

Anna Rose MacArthur served as KYUK's News Director from 2015-2022.
