Alaska State Troopers are continuing to investigate the death of a Tuluksak man as a homicide. Charles Peter, age 73, was found dead outside his home in Tuluksak a week and a half ago on Feb. 22. In anonline dispatch, troopers wrote that they found "a .22-caliber bullet under several layers of clothing.”

As of March 3, nine days after the death, troopers have not made any arrests or charged anyone with the alleged homicide. Trooper spokesperson Austin McDaniel wrote in an email to KYUK that troopers “do not believe that there is any immediate or ongoing threat to the community of Tuluksak at this time.” He also wrote that troopers are “awaiting forensic analysis of evidence by the Alaska Scientific Crime Detection Lab in Anchorage.”

Anna Rose MacArthur served as KYUK's News Director from 2015-2022.
