Bethel Search and Rescue (BSAR) is advising travelers to keep their vehicles off the lower Kuskokwim river. BSAR President Mike Riley said that south winds from the storm this weekend blew coastal waters up the river, causing overflow. He said that since Dec. 5, BSAR has received at least seven calls for help from people whose vehicles got stuck in the overflow.

Riley said that he expects these areas to refreeze later this week, but he asks people to avoid traveling on the lower Kuskokwim River for at least a few days.
