Wellness Wednesday is a talk show about health and wellness throughout the Y-K Delta that features health care providers from Bethel and the Y-K  Delta region. The program airs at 10:00 a.m. every Wednesday with hosts from YKHC Tobacco Prevention and Cessation, Irniamta Ikayurviat, and Tundra Women's Coalition. 

In this show, we are joined by YKHC Nicotine Dependence Counselor Aiden Keller and exercise physiologist Miles Rice. They discuss the effects of tobacco on diabetes, and how to stay active during quarantine. 

In this show, we are joined by Jessica Cochran from Anchorage Community Mental Health Services as she talks to her guests from around the state about children's mental health, and how to talk about a child's mental health during these hard times. 

North Star Behavioral Health

In this show, we talk with Janie Ferguson and Haley Morrissey, clinical community liaisons for North Star Behavioral Health. They discuss Mental Health Awareness Month, the effect of Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs, and how the pandemic is affecting mental health. 

In this show, Julie Thompson, a public health clinician, and Nicholai Joekay looked at alcohol misuse in Alaska. They looked at Nicholai's alcohol recovery journey, and discussed the work they do with Recover Alaska.

On this week's show, Charlie Ess, a Wellness Coordinator with the Rural Community Action Program, or RurAL CAP, talks about youth engagemnet in tobacco prevention and cessation. He discusses what motivates people to join the cause, and tells his own quitting story. Listen to the end to hear a segment from a youth conference hosted by Ess. 

This week, public health clinicians Julie Thompson and Jen Peeks from Bethel Family Clinic discussed how to cope with stress in these challenging times. They looked at how to deal with stress and grief, and how to create a mindful routine while in quarantine.

In this brief introduction, Aiden Keller from YKHC's Tobacco Prevention and Cessation discusses the dangers of smoking and vaping during the coronavirus pandemic.   

This week, state public health nurse Donna Bean sat down wwith KYUK's Krysti Shallenberger to discuss how the organization is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, challenges facing rural Alaska, and recommendations on staying healthy. 

This week, KYUK is joined by YKHC for a round table discussion on what you need to know about the spread of the coronavirus in the Y-K Delta. They discuss the latest information and guidlines from YKHC and the CDC.
