On Tuesday, June 30, a Bethel grand jury indicted a Quinhagak teenager on charges of sexually assaulting and killing a 10-year-old girl.

Jordan T. Mark, age 18, was indicted on one count of murder in the first degree, one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, and one count of tampering with physical evidence. If convicted at trial on all counts, Mark could face up to 203 years in prison.

The victim, Ida Aguchak, went by the name "Girlie." She went missing on March 15 in Quinhagak. The next day, a tribal police officer found her body in the village dump following a community-wide search. Alaska State Troopers arrested Mark a week later.

Girlie’s father, Luther Aguchak Jr., described his 10-year–old daughter as someone who loved her friends and loved playing with them.
