Kongiganak has community spread of COVID-19, according to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation. Numerous recent cases there could not be linked to travel, which means that the virus is spreading, in some cases undetected, within the community.

As of Nov. 25, YKHC has announced that 37 individuals in Kongiganak have tested positive for COVID-19. The village has been in lockdown since Sept. 9.

Community spread is also occurring in nine other places in the Y-K Delta. In alphabetical order, they are Akiak, Bethel, Chevak, Kwethluk, Napaskiak, Quinhagak, Scammon Bay, Toksook Bay, and Tuluksak.
