In a letter to families sent following the board's regular meeting, the district said the Chief Paul Memorial School in Kipnuk and the Kwigillingok School will not reopen until critical infrastructure and facility repairs are completed.

Students at Bethel Regional High School evacuated to a nearby building on Oct. 16 after a fire broke out in a girls’ bathroom near the gymnasium sometime that afternoon.

Education is increasingly reliant on the internet. And in rural communities, who gets to provide that internet to school districts is a million-dollar question.

Students at Bethel’s Yup’ik language immersion school attended classes in their own building for the first time ever today (September 11). The new building represents decades of local dedication and advocacy for Indigenous education.
