YKHC Offering Reward For Information On Who Stole Hospital Truck And Set It On Fire

Remember that truck fire outside Bethel on Thursday, June 13 that was initially reported as a tundra fire? It turns out that the truck belonged to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation, and the hospital is offering a reward for information on who stole it.

YKHC has posted a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people behind the theft.

Security camera footage shows what looks like two teenagers wandering the parking lot behind the YKHC administrative building in the early hours of the morning the day before the fire. The figures are wearing what look like black hoodies and testing the doors of various vehicles. They turn a corner, stepping out of the camera’s view, and soon a white truck speeds out of the parking lot.

The next day, smoke billowed across Bethel. False alarms of a tundra fire broke out, and firefighters extinguished the burning truck in the Old Crow sandpit at the end of Wildlife Lane.

Anyone wishing to provide information on the theft can call the Bethel Police at 907-543-3781, reference case number 1908162, and speak to Officer Oulton. To be eligible for the reward, informants must provide their name and contact information to the Bethel Police.
