With 22 schools, there’s always a lot happening across the Lower Kuskokwim School District. To find out the latest, KYUK is partnering with Bethel Regional High School to bring you a new, weekly segment called “News from LKSD.” Here with the first episode are high school juniors Hunter Carter and Marc Adlaon.

Transcript:

Carter: This Friday and Saturday, the best wrestlers from around our region will be battling at Bethel Regional High School for a chance to wrestle at State. So starting Friday, December 8, come support our wrestling Warriors.

Adlaon: This will indeed be an exciting weekend. Keep a look out for Thomas Dyment. This is his senior season, so this might be the last chance that you’re able to see a legend at work.

Carter: Next week, on December 12, Bethel Regional High School will also be hosting the high school speech contest.

Adlaon: That’s right. Students will be discussing a plethora of topics, including the erosion of Newtok.

Carter: Toksook Bay will have their annual suicide prevention community event this weekend. The event will start with an opening prayer, followed by several speakers sharing their voice. There will be a potluck and yuraq dancing after the event.

Adlaon: There is a community volleyball tournament sponsored by the Native Village of Mekoryuk on Friday and Saturday. This tournament is a fundraiser for Search and Rescue, so if you’re in the area go out there and show your support.

Carter: This is Hunter.

Adlaon: This is Marc.

Carter: And this was "News from LKSD."
