Two weeks ago, the U.S. Coast Guard gave the Lower Kuskokwim School District until Aug. 30 to transfer 36,000 gallons of diesel fuel away from the eroding Kuskokwim riverbank. The day of the deadline, the Coast Guard granted LKSD a 24-hour extension to complete the project.
