State Democratic Incumbents Leading In Initial Election Results In Y-K Delta

All election precincts in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta have reported their first results for the 2020 General Election. Initial results show Democratic incumbents leading with wide margins in state races.

 

Initial results show the Democratic incumbent for District 38 of the Alaska House, Tiffany Zulkosky, leading by 20 points over challenger Willie Keppel of the Veterans Party.

 

In the Y-K Delta’s House District 39, initial results show Democratic incumbent Neal Foster leading by about 45 points over Republican challenger Dan Holmes.

 

Senate District T also covers the Y-K Delta. There, incumbent Democratic State Sen. Donny Olson is leading Republican challenger Thomas Baker by 30 points.

 

Results from the other election issues on the ballot in these districts are not yet available.

 

Many early and absentee ballots will not be counted until a week after the election. In District 38, there are at least 750 of these ballots, according to a preliminary Alaska Public Media analysis of Alaska Division of Elections data. In District 39, there are at least 460 of these uncounted ballots.
