There is an open seat on Bethel City Council, and the city is looking for interested parties to fill it. Former city council member Fred Watson resigned on March 2, citing personal family matters.

At their meeting Tuesday night, the remaining council members and Acting City Manager Bill Howell thanked Watson for his service.

“Wanted to thank Fred for his many services to this community. As a council member, as a firefighter, as an EMT, as a member of the armed services,” Howell said. “Fred is an amazing man. God bless him and his family. We love you Fred, thanks for your time, buddy.”

If you would like to fill the open seat on city council, you must submit a statement of interest to the city clerk by 4 p.m. on March 18. The council will then conduct interviews with qualified candidates during its March 24 regular meeting, with the intention of making an appointment after the interviews. The term would end this coming October.
