New BRHS Teen Health Clinic Opens Its Doors

Thursday marked the first day of classes for ninth through twelfth graders at Bethel Regional High School. It also marked the opening of the school’s new health clinic. The clinic is housed in a small building next to the school and is the first of its kind in the region. The aim of the clinic is to bring health care services to an age group that often falls off the health care radar.

Services include sports physicals, medical treatment, physical exams, pregnancy testing, STD testing, and sexual health consultation. The services are free of charge, although some require parental consent. Yesterday, the students received consent forms to take home for their parents to sign.

The clinic is a collaboration between the high school, the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation, and Public Health Nursing. It will be open every other Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To make an appointment, call the high school or YKHC.
