Kuskokwim Moose Hunt Numbers

National Park Service

Moose season along the Kuskokwim River closed at the end of September, and the number of moose harvested is still being totaled. Alaska Department of Fish and Game Wildlife Biologist Patrick Jones says that his office has received reports of 220 moose harvested in the Kuskokwim RM-615 hunt.

Hunters reported taking 156 moose in Zone 1 of Unit 18, and the reporting period for that hunt has closed. Hunters have reported taking 64 moose in Zone 2 of Unit 18, and more reports from this zone could come in before the reporting period ends on Thursday, Oct. 10.

Reports from hunters who did not hunt or did not harvest a moose are due on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will issue reminder letters to permit holders who have not reported by that date. Fish and Game issued 1,562 permits for the Kuskokwim RM-615 hunt and has received reports from nearly half, or 780, of those recipients so far.
