Former Alaska State Rep. Bob Herron, a Bethel Democrat, had a stroke on Sunday. Alaska House Majority Leader Steve Thompson, a Republican from Fairbanks, announced the news on the House floor on Monday.
“Longtime representative and past representative Bob Herron had a stroke early Sunday morning and was medevacked to Anchorage. He’s currently undergoing tests, and I ask that you all say a prayer for his speedy and complete recovery,” Thompson said.
Herron’s wife, Margaret Herron, also asked for prayers for her husband’s recovery through a Facebook post. "Thank you in advance for your prayers [sic] it is greatly appreciated," she wrote.
Herron served in the Alaska House from 2009 to 2016, representing the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.
