A four-wheeler broke through the ice on a popular Bethel trail Wednesday night. Bethel resident William McCarr says that the four-wheeler is still stuck in the trail that runs behind Bethel Regional High School towards Hangar Lake.
The four people who were riding the vehicle are McCarr’s family members, and he says that they are all okay. They were on their way home to Akiachak when the accident occurred.
Temperatures over the past week have averaged above freezing, degrading ice and snow across the lower Kuskokwim area and making many trails unsafe for travel.
