Cameron Jackson of Akiak won the Camp Out Race with a time of 3 hours and 2 minutes on March 25, 2018.
Kuskokwim 300 Sled Dog Race

Cameron Jackson of Akiak took first place in the Camp Out Race this weekend with a time of 3 hours and 2 minutes. Joe Demantle of Tuluksak took second, coming in five minutes after Jackson with a time of 3 hours and 7 minutes. Maurice Andrews of Bethel earned third, finishing three minutes later in 3 hours and 10 minutes.

Overall, 13 mushers competed the race, all finishing within 39 minutes of each other. Each received a portion of the $20,000 purse.

The two-day Camp Out Race began Saturday morning with mushers running 42 miles upriver from Bethel to the Gweek River. The order in which they arrived determined the order in which they left the next day. After camping overnight, the teams raced back.

Racing season is coming to a close on the Kuskokwim. Next weekend marks the final K300-sponsored race of 2018. The 100 Mile Challenge Sled Dog Race begins March 31.
