A familiar face is again heading up Bethel’s tribe. Zack Brink took over as ONC’s executive director on Aug. 2. Brink formerly held the position from 2011 until 2015 when he retired.
He came back after ONC’s board voted to fire former ONC Executive Director Mark Springer. ONC Chairman Walter Jim did not comment as to why the board let Springer go.
Brink is originally from Kasigluk and has decades of experience working in tribal organizations. Before his first stint at ONC, he worked at the Association of Village Council Presidents for 15 years, eventually becoming executive vice president. Before that, he worked at the Bristol Bay Native Association in Dillingham.
