Bethel City Council To Discuss Roads And Blue Sky Subdivision Zoning

City of Bethel

Bethel City Council’s April 28 meeting will feature City Manager Vincenzo “Vinny” Corazza’s first budget modification, and zoning designations for the new Blue Sky Subdivision.

Corazza is requesting that the council approve $250,000 worth of gravel for roads. The ordinance says that the city’s current stock of gravel for this year is dwindling, and gravel is “the only tangible solution to repairing various roads around town, at this time.”

Blue Sky Subdivision, which would wrap around Larson subdivision off of BIA road, is also on the agenda. The Planning Commission has introduced an ordinance that will designate most of the new subdivision as residential properties. Seventy-five lots will be residential; three would be allocated for neighborhood commercial use, where businesses could operate.

Absent from the meeting agenda is discussion on Bethel’s cab fares. At the end of the month, the city will decide if it wants to continue the cab fare system put in place a month ago. The new system eliminated shared rides and enacted a per-minute cost. According to city staff, council members do not need to vote on the cab fares because the city’s emergency ordinance grants the city manager the power to make those decisions until the end of May.
