YKHC expands COVID-19 testing hours at its Bethel outdoor testing site.

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) has expanded COVID-19 testing hours in Bethel for COVID-19 positive individuals wanting to end isolation early. This comes at a time when the Y-K Delta is seeing its largest ever surge in COVID-19 cases.

The outdoor testing site across the street from the Bethel hospital will now be open Monday through Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. During this newly added testing window, YKHC will provide Binax rapid tests for COVID-19 positive people who want to end their isolation early with a negative result. YKHC said that COVID-19 positive individuals who test negative on or after the fifth day of isolation can stop isolating, but should wear a mask in public for the next five days.

The outdoor testing site will also be open around lunchtime as it has been for the last few months. On Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., people can get a PCR test. These hours are for people who have symptoms or were exposed to COVID-19.

For routine COVID-19 testing, people can walk into the Bethel hospital without an appointment from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, or 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.
