Alaska State Troopers are continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred in Russian Mission last week. No arrests have been made or charges issued for the assault, according to Public Information Officer Austin McDaniel. The suspects remain at large.

The shooting left one man injured. According to a trooper dispatch, he was medevaced to Anchorage for medical care. McDaniel said that he is in “good condition” at an Anchorage area hospital.

A preliminary trooper investigation showed that six people were returning from a boating trip when three men with long guns ambushed them. The armed men had been hiding in the woods. Shots rang out, and one man was shot in the torso and right arm. He ran and was later taken to the village health clinic.

The rest of the people from the boat retreated to a home, “when moments later, approximately five rounds were fired from a shotgun into the residence," the dispatch reports. "Four adults and seven children were in the residence when it was fired upon." No one inside was injured, and the suspects fled the scene.
