Bethel Regional High School officially has a new Site Administrator. After an arduous selection process, the Lower Kuskokwim School District picked Assistant Principal Doug Boyer for the job.

"It’s not an eight to five sort of job, and Doug really has a handle on that," said Superintendent Daniel Walker. "He understands the all-consuming nature of it."

As Site Administrator, Boyer will perform administrative duties typically associated with that of a Principal. The Bethel Advisory Board interviewed him for the position last month. LKSD vetted a total of 19 candidates for the job, and Boyer was one of two people who made it to the final round. The other finalist was Lyle Sparrowgrove, a retired Principal of Sitka High School, but he ultimately declined the position.

Boyer will start work as BRHS’ Site Administrator on July 1. LKSD is now looking for an Assistant Principal to replace him.
