The environmental group Oceana says the National Marine Fisheries Service should do much more to limit bottom trawling in the Gulf of Alaska.

In its recent meeting, the Kuskokwim River Salmon Management Working Group approved a letter requesting an expanded conservation zone off-limits to trawling.

Social media posts featured marine traffic maps showing the location of the trawlers, with one post reading “six trawlers right outside the mouth of Kuskokwim.”
