Bethel’s airport runway lights were out yesterday and today, but they’re fixed in time for tonight’s Alaska Airlines evening jet, according to a State Department of Transportation spokesperson. The spokesperson said the extreme precipitation this month caused the lights to malfunction.
The broken lights had caused Alaska Airlines to cancel their evening jet last night, according to a spokesperson for the company. Alaska Airlines is not currently projecting any cancellations or delays for this evening’s flight.
The broken runway lights in Bethel came in the wake of both local and nationwide flight cancellations caused by extreme weather and the highly transmissible Omicron variant.
