YKHC Suspends All Out-of-Region Business Travel

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation tightened employee travel restrictions on Tuesday, March 24. The organization eliminated all out-of-region business travel by its employees, effective immediately.

YKHC President and CEO Dan Winkelman said that the measure was taken to “utilize every means necessary to prevent COVID-19 from arriving to the Y-K Delta.”

The announcement followed the confirmation by Dr. Anne Zink, Alaska’s chief medical officer, that community spread of the coronavirus is occurring in several locations in the state. Community spread means that the virus is being seen in the state's general population, not just in people who have been traveling.
