The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is offering free flu shots across the region this Saturday, Oct. 3.
YKHC worries that simultaneous outbreaks of influenza and COVID-19 could overrun its medical capacity, so the organization is urging residents to get a flu shot. In a press release, the healthcare provider said that it is sending free shots to village clinics in addition to providing them in Bethel. On Oct. 3, residents can get a free flu shot at outdoor drive-thru clinics across the region. No appointments are needed.
Flu shots will be available in Bethel on Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the YKHC Administrative Building parking lot, the same parking lot holding the COVID-19 drive-thru testing tent.
For subregional clinics, free flu shots will be available on Oct. 3 from noon to 2 p.m. in Aniak, Emmonak, Hooper Bay, St. Mary’s, and Toksook Bay.
For village clinics, residents can get free flu shots on Oct. 3 from noon to 3 p.m. at Atmautluak, Chefornak, Chevak, Crooked Creek, Eek, Holy Cross, Kasigluk, Kongiginak, Kotlik, Kwethluk, Kwigillingok, Mountain Village, Pilot Station, Scammon Bay, Sleetmute, and Tununak.
