YKHC Monitoring Coronavirus Outbreak; No Confirmed Cases In Y-K Delta

If you are coughing and feverish, but have not been to China in the last two weeks, you probably just have the seasonal flu. That’s according to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation.

YKHC says that they are closely monitoring the coronavirus outbreak that news reports say has killed nearly 500 people globally. The health corporation says that there are currently zero confirmed cases in the region. YKHC also says their administrators are participating in weekly calls with state officials for updates.

If you do have flu-like symptoms and have returned from China in the past two weeks, or have been in close contact with someone who has recently returned from China, YKHC says to call 907-543-6395. Meanwhile, they advise residents to get their flu shots, which are available in village clinics and at the YKHC hospital.
