Freeze up is right around the corner. The lakes are frozen at Nikolai, and there are ice flows at Sleetmute. At Kwethluk, however, the river is still open. With the changing conditions, travel can be dangerous. Anyone who plans on traveling should file a trip plan with the Alaska State Troopers to make life easier for emergency responders and search and rescue groups.
