The Lower Kuskokwim School District has appointed Marc Adlaon of Bethel to be the new Student Representative to the School Board. A junior at Bethel Regional High School, he’s eager to take on the challenge of representing his fellow members of the LKSD student body.

“Because I’m passionate about my education, I want to make it better,” said Adlaon.

Born in the Philippines, Adlaon moved to Bethel when he was five. He is also the Student Representative on the Bethel Advisory School Board. At 16, Adlaon says that he’s not sure what he wants to do with his life yet, but he does know that he wants to help people. For now, that means advocating for change in the best interest of his fellow students. He says that he’ll try to stay in touch with the entire district.

“I would hope to connect to the students as much as possible via just digital means: by calling the schools and emailing their given student representatives,” said Adlaon.

Adlaon will serve a one-year term on the board, which started this past Friday.
