Dora Moore Will Replace Joann Werning On Calista Board Of Directors

Calista Corporation

On July 1, the Calista regional Native corporation added new leadership to its board of directors. Dora Moore will be replacing Joann Werning in Unit 2, which includes Alakanuk, Nunam Iqua, Bill Moore’s Slough, Hamilton, and Emmonak. Ron Hoffman of Bethel has been elected as an at-large member.

Up for reelection this year were Myron Naneng and Robert Beans’ seats. Both candidates clinched their positions for another term. Naneng represents Unit 1, including Hooper Bay, Paimiut, Chevak, and Scammon Bay. Beans, the Calista corporation’s board chair, represents Unit 3, which includes Kotlik, Chuloonawick, Mountain Village, Pitkas Point, and St. Mary’s. Calista board seats are up for reelection every three years.

Calista said that just over half of its shareholders voted in this year’s election.
