City Of Bethel Approves Purchase Of Body Cams And Amends Hauled Water Rules

Bethel police are getting new body cams. In their June 8 meeting, Bethel City Council approved the purchase of 30 new body cameras for the Bethel Police Department. The funding comes from a grant that the department received from the state.

Councilmember Rose “Sugar” Henderson sits on the Public Safety and Transportation Commission, the commission with oversight over the police department. She applauded the vote.

I think it's a great idea. All our equipment and everything is so outdated. And it's time for them to upgrade, like the rest of the world.

The Bethel City Council also voted to adopt new rules for sewer services. The rules now state that the customer is responsible for monitoring their own tank to prevent leaks or overflow. The city will also now allow hauled water customers to order extra water and pay alà carte. Previously, customers who wanted extra water had to pay for an extra sewer evacuation as well.
