Before it's finalized, a group of young Alaskans got to weigh in on Governor Bill Walker’s draft climate policy in Anchorage this week. And one of them, Kate McWilliams, is from Bethel.

McWilliams currently serves as a youth ambassador that represents the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta for the Arctic Council. That means that she gets to attend high-profile events around the state.

McWilliams is passionate about how communities adapt to a changing environment, she told KYUK earlier this year, and climate change is the biggest adaption challenge facing Y-K Delta residents today. She is currently attending Claremont College in Southern California and focuses on sustainability.

The Walker administration chose 25 participants from all over Alaska, but the majority of them reside in Anchorage. They range in age from 17 to 25 and come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
