Senior bus passes, a teen-run coffee house, and an adult service coordinator position will all be funded by this quarter's City of Bethel Community Action Grant program.

Checks were cut last week, with $12,765 going to Friends of the Kuskokwim Consortium Library to cover a Jesuit Volunteer position to help people looking for employment assistance.

Justine Chamberlain will receive $9,700 for a teen-operated coffee house at the Bethel Evangelical Covenant Church for “an afterschool program that serves teenagers.” Orutsararmiut Native Council's Senior Services department will receive $3,060 for 3-month bus passes for 34 Elders.

The grants are funded by 20 percent of the city's alcohol tax.
