AC Liquor Store Closer To Reality With Conditional Use Permit Approval

Christine Trudeau

On Thursday, the Bethel Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit for a liquor store that the Alaska Commercial Company wants to build.

AC wants to build a liquor store at the old location of Sammy’s Market on Third avenue. Receiving the conditional use permit means that the company met all the zoning requirements.

Kusko Liquor is trying to transfer its liquor license to AC. The state’s Alcohol Beverage Control Board is set to decide on whether or not to approve that transfer on July 9.

The Bethel City Council has until July 6 to decide whether to protest the transfer of the liquor license from Kusko Liquor to AC. June 25 is the last open council meeting before the deadline.
