BPD Arrests Woman After Responding to Reports of Gunfire

Two people were taken into custody by the Bethel Police Department after reports of gunfire Monday night. 

According to a police press release, a call around 8:30 p.m. Monday reported an intoxicated man wearing a dark hoodie yelling and shooting a handgun on a boardwalk between Akakeek and Owl Street. Later a second call reported a fight between a man wearing a dark colored hoodie and a woman near the boardwalk on Akakeek.

Police responded and took the man and woman into custody. Police did not recover a gun and could not determine if the calls were connected.

Police have not identified the man, who they took into protective custody for intoxication. Police identified the woman as Kimberly Evans, age 22, of Bethel. She is charged with assaulting a peace officer was taken to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.
