Federal income tax filing season has begun, and free help to complete this filing is coming to Bethel this weekend. The Alaska Business Development Center is bringing volunteers to town who can walk you through the process. They'll be at the Long House Hotel this Friday through Sunday at the following times:
- Friday, Feb. 1 from 1:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb 2 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sunday, Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
People wanting to use this service will need to bring a Social Security card and either a state issued ID or a tribal ID for themselves, their spouse, and their children. They will also need to bring all relevant tax documents, like W-2s and 1099s.
People will be helped on a first come, first served basis. If you can’t get a slot this weekend, there will be a second chance for free income tax filing help later in the month. Volunteers will be returning to Bethel February 28 through March 2 to provide the same free service at the Bethel Cultural Center.
Volunteers will also be visiting communities throughout the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta to offer tax help:
