On Feb. 7, Wayne Don from Mekoryuk, who is a Calista board member, was promoted to brigadier general in the Alaska National Guard. That makes him the highest ranking Alaska Native currently serving in the Alaska National Guard, and the first Alaska Native from the Y-K Delta to become a general in the Alaska National Guard.
