State Funded Air Quality Monitoring Lease Passes

Christine Trudeau

The Bethel City Council has unanimously agreed to a lease with state conservation officials for an air quality monitoring site. City Manager Pete Williams introduced the lease for land located just behind AC (Alaska Commercial) on Fourth Avenue.

Council member Leif Albertson said that this is a great opportunity for Bethel. Albertson said that this gives the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation a very small piece of land, where they pay all the bills, and in turn provides access to all information gathered on air quality in the city.

Following Albertson’s comments, discussion wrapped up quickly with no dissenting votes.
