In the wake of a decision by Coastal Villages Region Fund to close it’s commercial fisheries program this year, fishermen in communities across the region are crying out for help: help from the state, help from CVRF, help from just about anyone. A few men and women from Quinhagak, one of the most affected villages where many of the working adults are commercial fishermen, gathered Friday night to sing a kind of sad song—the fishermen’s song.
