In Pilot Station, a party went bad. One man is dead and another has been arrested and charged with shooting him.  

State Troopers received a report Thursday morning that Dennis Alick, age 27, was killed. Brian Fancyboy, age 23, has been arrested for murder.

Two muskox have been poached near Bethel, and Alaska Wildlife Troopers are searching for whoever is responsible. The Troopers found the two animals near a snowmachine trail between the Bethel dump and Akiachak on Sunday.

White County Sheriff's Office

Alaska prosecutors are working with U.S. Marshals to return a man charged with 76 counts of sexual violence committed in Nightmute to Alaska. Fifty-one year old Jeffrey Jackson is in custody in Arkansas on $1 million bail and is contesting extradition.

Two Tribal Police Officers were assaulted in Akiachak this weekend by intoxicated men. One faces a firearms charge; both are charged with assault.

Inebriates, Taxis, and Hotels Are A Bad Mix

One of Bethel's hotels wants help from the city council in dealing with people who have been drinking.

Juan Delgado with Delta Cottages stood up and told the council that the owners of the hotel want the city to stop taxi cabs from dropping inebriated customers at their door. He says that the hotel doesn't rent rooms to people who are drinking because they damage the property and threaten the guests. He says that his insurance won't cover all the damage caused by intoxicated hotel patrons.

February 19, 1997. If you lived in Bethel on that day, you would remember exactly where you were and what you were doing, even though it was twenty years ago.  

That’s the day Evan Ramsey took a 12-gauge shotgun to school and opened fire in the lobby, just before class started.

On the night of January 31 of this year, a Bethel man named Michael "Big Mike" Chris was found dead outside his home. At the time, police called it an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, but his family believes that this was not a suicide or an accident.
