Bethel Regional High School cross country runners are headed to the state championships. The Bethel girls team won the regional meet last weekend in Kotzebue, and the Bethel boys team took second place. Runners competed over a 3.1 mile course.

Because the Lady Warriors placed first in regionals, the entire team is headed to the state meet. Those runners are:

  • Payton Boney, 10th grade
  • Cadence Cedars, 12th grade
  • Beth Hensley 12th grade
  • Jordan Klejka, 10th grade
  • Maya Komulainen 10th grade
  • Fiona Phelan, 12th grade
  • Alqaq Small, 12th grade

From the Bethel boys team, two individual runners qualified for state: seniors Landon Smith and Peter Crow.

The state cross country meet is this coming Saturday, Oct. 9, at Bartlett High School in Anchorage.
