The new Alaska House Majority Caucus has assigned its committee chairs for the upcoming legislative session. The Senate Majority appointed seats Wednesday. Western Alaska Democrats are co-chairing the Finance Committees for both bodies.
Democrat Lyman Hoffman of Bethel caucused with the Republican majority and will co-chair the Senate Finance Committee with Republican Anna MacKinnon of Eagle River.
Democrat Neal Foster of Nome will co-chair the House Finance Committee with Homer Republican Paul Seaton.
Other Western Alaska representatives in the House Majority include Representative Zach Fansler of House District 38, who will co-chair the Community and Regional Affairs Committee with Representative Justin Parish of Juneau.
Representative Dean Westlake of Kotzebue will chair the Economic Development, Tourism, and Arctic Policy Special Committee, and Representative Bryce Edgmon of Dillingham will lead the coalition as the first Democrat House Speaker in 24 years.
