Warning: Ice Road Covered In Snow Drifts

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Kuskokwim Delta for Feb. 1-2, 2021.

Updated 2 p.m., Feb. 2: The Native Village of Napaimute is warning travelers to stay off the lower Kuskokwim ice road to avoid becoming stuck in dangerous snow drifts.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Kuskokwim Delta. It remains in effect from 3 p.m. on Feb. 1 until 9 p.m. on Feb. 2. The NWS previouly issued the advisory to last for a shorter time, until  3 p.m. on Feb. 2. 

Wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour are expected, along with snow, sleet, and freezing rain piling 4 to 10 inches, with the highest amounts of precipitation along the coast. Blowing snow could reduce visibility to a half-mile at times. Sleet and freezing rain could turn roads icy.
