Bethel residents can apply online for the city to remove two junk vehicles from their yards for free. Applicants must have a current utility account with the city to qualify.

“We would come and take it to the dump, and take care of all the fluids, and they don’t have to worry about that,” City Manager Vincenzo "Vinny" Corazza said.

Vehicle removal applications must be submitted by September 17, and will be processed on a first come, first served basis. The effort is part of the city's annual Clean Up Green Up campaign. Bethel City Council voted to extend the vehical clean-up effort for 60 days on July 14.

The city's website refers to junk vehicles as "eyesores."
